- Give birth at a Turkish hospital: Foreigners residing in Turkey can give birth at Turkish hospitals, and the hospital will assist with registering the birth of the baby with local authorities. Be sure to bring your passport and residence permit to the hospital.
- Obtain a birth certificate from the hospital: After the baby is born, the hospital will provide you with a birth certificate, which confirms the baby's name, date of birth, and other personal information. The hospital will also register the birth with local authorities.
- Register the birth with local authorities: You will need to take the birth certificate to the nearest population and nationality directorate (Nüfus ve Vatandaşlık İşleri Müdürlüğü) to register the baby's birth with Turkish authorities. You will need to bring your passport, residence permit, and the baby's birth certificate.
- Obtain a passport for the baby: Once the baby's birth is registered with local authorities, you will need to obtain a passport for the baby from your home country's consulate. The consulate will provide you with an application form, which you will need to fill out and submit along with the necessary documents such as the birth certificate, passport, and a photo of the baby.
- Obtain a residence permit for the baby: After obtaining the baby's passport, you will also need to apply for a residence permit for the baby from the directorate general of migration management. The required documents usually include the baby's birth certificate, passport, the parents' passport, and their residence permit.
